Crest
That for the regiments and separate battalions of the South Carolina Army National Guard: From a wreath Argent and Gules, upon a mount Vert a palmetto tree Proper charged with a crescent Argent.

Shield
The colors scarlet and white, the spur and the crossed sabers represent Cavalry. Association with the Beaufort Arsenal is referred to by the stylized gold fort in chief. Black denotes strength and solidarity. The scarlet and white division of the shield alludes again to Cavalry, recalling the old Cavalry guidon. The wings on the spur and the vol, represent the speed and efficiency of unit operations. White signifies integrity, scarlet denotes courage and sacrifice.
Crest
The crest is that of the South Carolina Army National Guard.
The coat of arms was approved on 31 October 2003.
